Aunt Jane's Red Shovel Painting
This fantastic trivial garden shovel is all metal. I couldn't assist but wonder nearly the manufacturing process while I was painting this all the same life. It seems as if a single solid sheet of metal has been used to make this little garden shovel. Perhaps the main shape is stamped out and so the residue of the metal is pressed and wrapped around a jig to complete the form. I'thou completely guessing here but that'south how I imagine this shovel to have been created. This theory is further strengthened when yous exam the topmost part of the shovel'southward handle. In that location, the metallic has been crimped to grade a more spherical elevation which would exist more than comfortable to concur and safer to use exist eliminating any abrupt metal edges.
I've painted several shovels before, just they always included a wooden handle. Too beingness constructed solely of metal, this shovel was extremely unique in that is was scarlet and gold. I rarely get to pigment objects that are this colorful. It was a welcomed claiming and one I needed to expand my painter's palette to accommodate.
The other day I was thinking about how limited my palette has go since I started painting antiquarian tools. In my creative person'southward studio I can meet dozens upon dozens of paint tubes. Full ranges of colors in various makes and sizes. Nigh of these tubes get ignored I'one thousand agape. Usually only about viii-10 colors make it onto my palette these days still. Go on in heed that this is including 4 neutral colors: white, black and two grays. So, I expanded my palette a wee bit to include a cadmium red and enjoyed every minute of this painting.
